Fine quality exhibition style display knife or short sword with blade measuring 33 ½” overall with 25” blade which is nearly 3” wide at its thickest point. The blade is beautifully etched in silver plated and shows the makers name Neal’s at center portion with the British National Crest and London in fancy etched panels on each side. This maker displayed at the Philadelphia exhibition and probably took the style of this blade fromSoutheast Asian and Malaysian arms. The carved ivory grip is similar to other exhibition knives made in the 1870s. The blade shows 80% original silver starting to drift and peel and there is patina where theplating has lifted. The right side of the blade shows a trumpet with the letter B in a cartouche. There is a silver ramrod feral and the grip is in near fine condition. Est.: $1,500-$3,000.
