Belgian artist (1833–1898) known primarily as a printmaker in etching and aquatint, famed for his work that tends to mingle sex and death. ALS in French, one page, 5 x 4.5, [August 1895]. Letter to Eugene Rodrigues, who published Rops's etchings. In part (translated): "Your friend, the ferocious doctor, forces me to live in a rigid retreat, it is scarcely possible for me to read Lafontaine's fables. He finds them disturbing!" In fine condition, with two missing corner tips.
