This lot features a Fancy Half stock Hand Built .32 Caliber Percussion Rifle. The rifle features a 22" rifled barrel, external hammer, scroll work trigger guard, ramrod, fixed sights, and fancy hardwood stock. This is a lovely figured stock with contrasting reddish/brown horn or hardwood butt plate and forend cap. The lock plate is marked in script “F. P. Hartwell” over “1961.” Whether this is the maker or if the rifle is considerably older but was presented to F. P. Hartwell in 1961 is unknown. Fine workmanship with fixed gallery style rear sight paired with small blade/bead front sight dovetailed in the front of the barrel. Excellent mechanically with solid half cock safety notch and fine let-off trigger pull. Delicate scroll style trigger guard and single pin with brass escutcheon on the forend. Complete with ramrod and all in solid condition. This is a hand-built rifle weighing only 3 ¾ lbs with a 22 inch rifled round barrel. Overall length is a mere 35 ½ inches. The length of pull from the middle of the butt plate to the trigger is approximately 13 inches, so this rifle could comfortably handled by most ten or twelve year olds, most women and would not be all that awkward for a man to shoot. This is a antique firearm. NO FFL transfer or nICS background check required.
