Excellent Indian War U.S. Rock Island Arsenal Cavalry Trapdoor Carbine Boot and a U.S. Lanz, Owen an
1) Rock Island Arsenal Pattern 1886 carbine boot, 13 1/4 inches long and 5 1/2 inches wide at the mouth, with a brass reinforcement triangle on the front of the mouth, three brown leather straps secured with rivets, and a reinforced section on the front near the bottom. 2) Model 1881 Holster for Colt Model 1873 Cavalry Revolver or Smith & Wesson Schofield Revolver. A Civil War veteran, Richard Owen's company supplied holsters used in the Spanish-American War. Black leather with wide belt loop to fit over a loaded cartridge belt, "U.S" on the front, "D" on the holster flap with two finial holes, and "LANZ, OWEN & CO." stamped in a half-circle above "CHICAGO" on the rear, with brass rivets securing the loop.
