Excellent British L39A1 Commercial Bolt Action Target Rifle
This is a very nice example of a WWII No4 MKI British Enfield bolt action rifle that was converted in the 1950/1960s to a commercial target rifle in 7.62MM NATO. These rifles were the standard rifle that was used in all British service rifle matches. The conversion process started with a basic WWII No.4 rifle that was completely disassembled and rebuilt starting with a new heavy, target weight barrel, commercial style free floating forend and hand guard along with a new Parker Hale PH 5E-4 target rear and target globe front sight. The conversion from .303 British to 7.62 NATO consisted of a new bolt head, proof for the 7.62 round along with a new magazine box and barrel as noted above. The side of the receiver is marked "7.62M/M L39A1/UE 72 A1200". It is fitted with a new hardwood stock and handguard set and is complete with a military green canvas sling and a set of extra front sight inserts in a brass PH storage box that is inletted into the under side of the buttstock.
