Engraved and Silver Mounted Senfert Marked Percussion Pistol with Elaborate Relief Carved Stock
Engraved silver blade front and notch rear sights, with engraving on the breech and tang and "Fr. Senfert in Jena" in silver on the top flat. The lock and hammer are engraved with floral designs and fantastic animals, with the head of the hammer carved into a bestial head, "JENA" in a banner on the lock, and a bird's head on the roller spring equipped nipple protector/ safety. Full length stock with attractive grain, with bone forearm and ramrod tips, engraved escutcheons, silver ramrod pipes with floral designs, a blank inscription shield between the pipes and the floral decorated trigger guard, silver and pearl panels opposite the lock with scrollwork and a scene of two dragons facing off, silver buttcap with an animal head design and the wrist is dominated with a three dimensional carving of a dragon, posed as though eating the butt of the pistol, with scale pattern checkering, ebony and pearl eyes and carved horn teeth.

Condition: Good overall, with a dark brown patina on the barrel, lighter on the lock plate, with some pitting and dings. Stock is good as repaired, with a mended chip on the right side ahead of the lock, mild cracking and excellent details. Hammer appears to lack a half cock position, otherwise mechanically very good.
