Offered for sale is a great example of a Engraved 19th Century Warnant Flobert .32 RF Parlor Rifle. The rifle features a 24" heavy octagon barrel, fixed sights, checkered walnut stock, ornate trigger guard, and blue'd finish. The “E/LG/*” within an oval indicates the final proof in Liege, Belgium, after 1856 and before July 9, 1893, when a crown was added on top of the oval. The three main Flobert variants are described and illustrated in Single Shot Rifles And Actions by Frank De Haas. Many Floberts were made of very soft steel and designed to sell at the lowest possible price. In 1920, when a box of 100 blackpowder .22 shorts cost 21 cents, the price of a new Flobert rifle was about $2.50. This rifle shows good condition, with some wear from age. The finish shows good, but cleaned condition. The mechanics are fully functioning. The bore is bright with strong rifling, but has minor pitting. The stock looks to have been cracked then fixed. This is a Curio & Relic firearm. FFL transfer or NICS background check required. The serial number is 155.
