English flintlock horseman’s size pistol signed Johnson, circa approx. 1725. .69 caliber smoothbore, 13-1/2” barrel, 19-1/2” overall. Brass mounts with pierced serpentine sideplate. Early type butt with no strapsthat is nicely engraved. Pistol is stocked in good quality figured or striped walnut. The metal surfaces are in good condition with some pitting and erosion. The frizzen has been resurfaced from heavy use. The top-jawand screw are excellent replacements. The forend shows a spliced-in almost imperceptible repair to the forend extending approx. 4-1/2” from the muzzle. The wood is generally good and the pistol is generallygood overall. These holster size English pistols of this era are seldom seen and becoming rare. Est: $2,500 - $5,000
