Enfield pattern .58 caliber rifled musket of Sargenters style with iron mountings and stud on front band for saber bayonet (included). The lock is marked Tower with crown and dated 1864. The barrel measures 33” and the rifleis 46 ½” over all. The metal surfaces show a gray to brown patina finish and some light to moderate scattered erosion and surface pitting. The hammer shows some slightly heavier pitting and the stock is good withmany military type dings, mars and dents. There are couple of large chips of wood missing and a few minor losses along the edges. There are 2 small inspector type marks behind the tang that we cannot decipher andone small B 12 stamped in that area. The original nipple protector on chain is retained along with original rear sight. The rifling is still deep with some erosion. A steel mounted saber bayonet with checkeredwood handle is included and shows a helmeted Roman as a makers mark. The lug at rear of bayonet is hand engraved 1182 and there is a small B inspectors stamp and number 29 on the front band beneath the bayonet lug. The
