'Mark II' British military lever-operated breech loading single shot service rifle chambered for the .577-450 Martini-Henry cartridge, manufactured circa 1885. Features a blued finish, 21.25" barrel, military style front sight, graduated rear sight, two barrel bands with bayonet lug on the front band, metal forend cap, cleaning rod, serrated trigger, cock indicator, white leather sling, smooth full length wood forend and straight grip shoulder stock with metal buttplate. Right side of the receiver is marked '[crown]/VR, Enfield/1885 and II/2'. Barrel shows Birmingham proofs as well as military proofs and the stock is marked '4/1881, 11.7.R.A/89, MC, 1st W&W AV, 119', and Enfield circular cartouche also a brass disk in stock marked 5/1892/V/1.Y.E.A/278'. Includes an original sawback sword bayonet with scabbard and frog. Rifle exhibits a nice blued finish on the barrel which has turned to brown patina forward of the second barrel band and the receiver displays a refinish with some scattered pinprick pitting. Action is mechanically sound, bore is very good and the wood stocks are good+ showing cracks and minor repairs. Condition is NRA Good ***Antique Firearm*** From The John F Sukey Collection
