This is an excellent Eastern Woodlands Native American Indian crooked knife from the mid to late 19th century. The knife handle has been made from solid maple hardwood and shows a carved female figure effigy with a beaver on her chest. The handle displays a wonderful dark, rich patina with lighter, golden highlights throughout which is indicative of its early age. The blade is made from a straight razor inserted into the far end of the handle. The end of the handle has been notched and wrapped a narrow gauge twisted cord. The Eastern Woodlands crooked knife is very good condition. It measures 5" x 9.5". Provenance: Purchased by the seller from a private Michigan collection.
