The lot features a fantastic hand carved crooked knife from the Eastern Woodlands Native American Indians and dating to the 19th Century. The knife shows a solid hardwood handle having an exquisite hand chip carved American Folk Art style geometric design with the handle having a wonderful swooping curved design that begins with curled accent and culminates in the straight end which holds the blade. The blade is a iron blacksmith hand forged example most likely made from the remnants of another knife or gun parts showing a rich original patina. The blade is held into place with a stud and the handle is wrapped in thick harness saddle leather scraps showing a dark patina from age and use. The knife shows a artful crafted design with impressive original even authentic patina and displays beautifully. Provenance: From a Manheim, Pennsylvania collection. Measures overall 9.25 inches long by 1.75 inches thich with a 2.5 inch blade.
