This lot contains an early panoramic of Highwood, Montana. Highwood is a unincorporated community sitting in Chouteau County. Highwood had its first post office in 1881, which would close and re-open multiple times, until 1886, when it remained open continuously. The photograph captures what is now Broadway Street, and Highway 228, showing grain silos - which can still be seen in Highwood today, the Highwood Motel, General store, and so on. The photograph originates from as early as the 1890's, and as late as the early 1900's. For the age - the photo shows good condition, it does have obvious tears, and staining indicative of age. The piece is preserved on a mat-board, and shrink wrapped. The mat measures 34 1/4" wide, and 8 5/8" tall.
