Offered for sale is a Early Colt New Service .38-40 Revolver. This was Colt’s first truly big bore side-swing cylinder revolver capable of handling powerful rounds like the .38-40 and .45 Colt. This example has all the early features including the squared style cylinder release and the last patent date on the barrel of 1900 along with the correct Colt address markings etc. Checkered hard rubber grips with COLT spelled out at top of each panel and original lanyard stud in the butt. Fine blue finish, front sight has not been filed or altered, excellent mechanics and tight lock-up of the cylinder. Left side of the barrel correctly marked “NEW SERVICE .38 W.C.F.” (Winchester Center Fire). This was the largest Pre-War Colt double action revolver made and was popular with frontiersmen, lawmen and more than a few outlaws of the early twentieth century. This revolver was manufactured in 1905. Curio & Relic firearm. FFL transfer or NICS background check required. The serial number is 14095
