Up for bidding in this lot is an exceptional "form fitter" saddle, from the private collection of Kent DeVore - Owner and operator of "DeVore Saddlery" of Helena Montana. The structure of the saddle utilizes a high cantle, an exaggerated undercut swell fork, brass rigging dee's, and wonderful matching tapaderos. The custom hand tooled basket weave texture runs across the borders of the entire saddle, and accentuates the scalloped brass conchos. The saddle is absent of a makers hallmark, it is stamped on the back of the cantle with "ROSS", as well the tapaderos read "ROSS" in overlayed brass letters. The anatomy and condition of the saddle seem to date the piece of tack to the late 1800's or early 1900's. The saddle shows good condition, the rear billet strap seems to be a more modern addition. The saddle has a 15" seat.
