Print 316/565. Featuring landscape scene of St. Clair Bush. Signed by Elizabeth 'Elsie' Thoonen (Canadian, 1938-2018). Dated 1996. 29.5 x 40.5 cm (11.6 x 15.9 inches). Elsie was a well-known author and illustrator of six books on the local history of Chatham-Kent. She was a celebrated artist and historian, having received the Queen's Golden Jubilee Commemorative Medal in 2003. She was a Brownie leader for many years, for which she was recognized with the Citizen of the Year Award. Elsie painted the backdrops for the Ridge Players for over 20 years, and also painted the mural at the Blenheim Freedom Library. Elsie volunteered at many local elementary schools throughout the years and organized numerous art workshops. PROVENANCE: Private collection (Ontario, Canada)
