Dresden RK Large Antique Porcelain Compote Centerpiece
This antique compote centerpiece is the largest Dresden porcelain piece we have ever seen. Its size, at 39 inches high and 19 inches in diameter, is matched only by its beauty. Three maidens dance around the center pedestal, holding a garland of delicate yellow flowers. The lovely ladies play out this springtime ritual on a base with blue feathered ornamentation. The platter it rests upon has a pattern of pink and blue flowers, and a slotted edge in diamond shapes. Underneath is a large base of prancing white horses with plumes. The vessel on top has large delicate flowers of pink, yellow and blue, and painted flowers underneath. The top has a slotted foliate pattern. A gold trim is present overall. * The maker mark on the underside is RK Dresden. This indicates that the piece was made at the Richard Klemm studio in Dresden sometime between 1869 and 1949. Klemm is well known for his painting in the Meissen and Vienna styles. This centerpiece would have certainly been one of the more elaborate items to come out of the studio. * It is in excellent condition overall, with no chips, cracks or crazing. * This Dresden centerpiece will bring a vivacious beauty to any room.
