Documented Winchester Model 1876 Lever Action Rifle in 50-95 Express Caliber
Manufactured in 1882. Third Model with the dust cover guide integral to the top of the receiver. Fixed blade front sight, folding rear sight (adjustment bar absent), graduated to 1,000 yards. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/ King's Improvement patent date markings ahead of the rear sight and "50- CAL." at the breech. The top of the dust cover is marked "WINCHESTER EXPRESS / 50 CAL. 95 GRS.", the bottom of the elevator is marked "50-95", the model designation is on the upper tang and the serial number on the lower tang. Mounted with a smooth, nicely figured walnut forearm and straight grip stock with an iron end cap and crescent buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included). The accompanying Cody (dated March 23, 2006) and Buffalo Bill Historical Center (dated April 23, 1979) letters verify the serial number, rifle configuration, octagon barrel, express caliber, plain trigger, casehardened and that it was received and shipped out of the warehouse on October 4, 1882 with 4 other rifles with the same specs and order number.

Condition: Very good. The metal surfaces have a smooth mottled gray patina with a few minor dings and scratches. The wood is also very good with almost all of the original finish remaining and some overall scattered minor dings and dents. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent. A nice example of a Winchester Model 1876 50 Express Rifle.
