Documented Argentine Sistema Colt Model 1927 Semi-Automatic Pistol as Pictured in Charles Clawson's Book Colt .45 Government Models with Rare "A" Prefix Serial Number

This pistol is one of 100 with an "A" serial number prefix and is pictured and described in Charles Clawson's book COLT .45 GOVERNMENT MODELS on page 197. The pistol was manufactured by Fabrica Militar de Armas Portatiles, Rosario, Argentina, in 1954. The slide is marked "D.G.F.M.-(F.M.A.P.)" on the left side and the Argentine crest followed by "C.F.S. A80736/SIST. COLT CAL. 11.25mm. MOD. 1927" on the right side. The "CFS" marking stands for Consejo Federal de Seguridad (Federal Council of Security), which granted President Peron direct control over all the Argentinean law enforcement agencies. The Council was created in 1951 and was dissolved in 1956. The "A" prefix serial number (A80736) also appears on top of the slide and the serial number without "A" prefix (80736) appears on the chamber and frame. Fitted with checkered grips. Import mark present on right side of frame rear of serial number.

Very fine. The pistol retains 70% arsenal blue finish with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The grips are fine with some scattered minor handling marks and some wear in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
