Amazing collection of items associated with Dieudonne Costes and Maurice Bellonte, who made a historic crossing of the Atlantic in 1930 when they flew the Breguet 19 Super Bidon 'Point d'Interrogation [Question Mark]' from Villacoublay near Paris to New York for a 37 hour, 18 minute flight covering 3,850 miles. The collection comprises an assortment of thirteen signed items, plus unsigned photographs chronicling their historic flight.

Signed items include: two TLSs in French by Costes, each signed "D. Costes," dated 1930 and 1932, plus another TLS by Costes on a postcard from 1933; three postcard photos signed by Bellonte; two original vintage photographs signed by Bellonte; an original vintage photograph signed by Bellonte, Costes, and one other; a menu for the dinner honoring their flight on the Ile de France ship for their return home, signed inside by Bellonte and Costes; a menu for a dinner honoring their flight, signed in pencil by both Bellonte and Costes; a different menu for a dinner hosted by the Aero-Club de l'Aube, signed on the front cover by Costes; an original vintage photograph of Costes signed on the front by Costes, and on the reverse by Costes and Bellonte; and a small slip signed by Costes, stapled to a magazine photo.

The unsigned original vintage photographs, ranging in size from 5 x 7 to 8 x 10, portray their historic flight and its aftermath. These include: five photos related to the 'Point d'Interrogation' taking off from France, highlighted by one showing Louis Breguet pointing in the direction of New York, and an iconic photograph of an anxious Madame Bellonte watching the sky from her Paris balcony; three photos of its landing in New York; three photographs of the 'Point d'Interrogation' being taken back to Le Havre by boat; and nine photos covering their return to Paris by air, including an interesting one of a young girl writing Bellonte's name on a Paris wall; and five other related photographs, including two of the plane's engine compartment. Also includes an airmail cover carried on the flight. In overall very good to fine condition.
