Desirable Antique First Year Production Winchester Model 1894 Takedown Lever Action 30-55 WCF Calibe
This is a nice example of an early first production, three digit serial number Winchester Model 1894 Takedown Sporting rifle that was manufactured in 1894. The top barrel flat is marked with the two line address ahead of the rear sight and marked "38-55" at the breech. The front sight is a dovetailed blade with an ivory bead, the rear sight has been removed and a filler block installed and a tang mounted short range peep sight has been added. Blue finish with casehardened hammer, lever and buttplate, full magazine and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with steel end cap and straight grip stock with steel crescent buttplate.

Excellent. The barrel retains 95% original finish, thinning on the upper flats and showing some edge wear. The magazine retains 90% original finish with wear limited to an area of smooth gray behind the bracket from breaking the rifle down. The receiver retains 97% original finish with some minor flaking on the left side, some edge wear and a small area of minor pitting on the left front. The takedown ring retains most of the original finish with some minor pitting on the left side. The lever and hammer show much of the bright original case colors with smooth gray on the bottom and inside the loop. The buttplate has a smooth grayish patina. The wood is very fine with exception of a few minor shallow gouges on the left side of the forearm, otherwise overall a few minor dings and handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. This is a must have for the serious Winchester Model 1894 collector!
