Produced circa 1893 - 1935. Blade and adjustable sporting sights on the barrel, which is marked "MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN, CT. U.S.A./ PATENTED. OCT. 11. 1887, APRIL 2. 1889, AUG. 1, 1893.", "30-30" and "SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL". The receiver is marked "MARLIN SAFETY" on top, with a mid-range adjustable peep sight on the upper tang and scroll engraving with stag scenes on the sides: a single stag on the right and a fox chasing a stag on the left. Wedges of scrollwork are engraved on the barrel flats at the breech, with the scroll pattern extended to the barrel extension. Fitted with a half-length magazine. Checkered fancy walnut pistol grip stock, with engraved forearm hardware, a checkered rifle buttplate and an inlaid silver shield on the right buttstock marked "Edward Field Goltra". Though not confirmed as belonging to him, research shows an Edward Field Goltra as a steel executive and prominent St Louis citizen at the time of manufacture.

Condition: Professionally restored to near mint condition, with 99% blue finish with a few scattered light handling marks and 98% vivid and bright case colors with wear limited to the inside of the lever. The stock is very fine with a crack in the buttplate and minor handling marks and dings. Mechanically excellent.
