Included for auction in this lot is an artist proof lithograph of Battle of Little Big Horn survivor - Black Elk, originally painted by renowned Western artists, David Humphreys Miller. Black Elk was, cousin of famous war chief Crazy Horse, and veteran not only of Battle of Little Big Horn, but also the Wounded Knee Massacre, and Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Nicholas Black Elk also revived the traditional Oglala Sun Dance. Nicholas, and his son Benjamin were crucial proponents in the education of the Lakota Sioux tradition, keeping it alive not only on the reservation, but spreading the culture to all peoples. The lithograph print is signed on the bottom left hand corner "©David Humphreys Miller - ap/250", and is additionally hand signed by the artists underneath the bust. The print shows very good condition overall, there is some apparent edge wear, and light scattered staining (please reference photos). The print includes a copy of "Custer's Fall - The Native American Side of the Story", by David Humphrey's Miller. The print is preserved on mat-board, and has corner protectors. The print alone measures 19 7/8" wide, and 28 5/8" tall.
