A DANCE BROS. WE HAVE DONE A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF READING IN RESEARCHING THIS ITEM. IT WAS CONSIGNED BY A KNOW COLLECTOR WHO PURCHASED TWO DANCE BROS. REVOLVERS AT A SHOW IN MONTREAL CANADA ABOUT 40 YEARS AGO. WE SOLD ONE OF THESE TO A DEALER IN TEXAS ABOUT FIVE YEARS AGO WHO CONFIRMED IT WAS A TRUE DANCE. WHEN ONE REALIZES THE CIRCUMSTANCES THESE WERE BUILT UNDER AND THE SHORTAGES OF MATERIALS IT CAN JUSTIFY SOME OF THE QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS EXAMPLE. THE FRAME ITSELF IS NOT NUMBERED, BUT RESEARCH HAS INDICATED THAT THIS IS POSSIBLE AS SOME ITEMS WERE SOLD AS "CIVILIAN PURCHASES" FROM THE FACTORY WITHOUT NUMBERS OR IT MAY HAVE BEEN A PROTO-TYPE. THE USE OF COLT PARTS FOR THE TRIGGER GUARD (SER. # “CS 170497 WHICH IS CONSISTENT WITH A COLT 1851 NAVY MADE IN 1863) AND THE BUTT STRAP (SERIAL # 69344 WHICH IS CONSISTENT WITH A COLT 1851 NAVY MADE IN 1857) LENDS ITSELF TO THE POSSIBILITY THAT IT WAS REBUILT AT SOMETIME DURING ITS LIFE WITH PARTS FROM OTHER GUNS? THERE IS A PROMINENT “K” ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE OCTAGONAL 7 ½” BARREL AS WELL AS ON THE LOADING ROD (IN TWO SPOTS, FEW CLUES AS TO THE ORIGINS OF THE “K”) THE BARREL IS OCTAGONAL AND HAS 7 RIGHT HAND GROOVES AND A BEAD SIGHT WHICH WE HAVE SEEN IN OTHER IMAGES. THE FRAME ITSELF HAS NO RECOIL SHIELDS. THE HAMMER PROFILE IS CONSISTENT WITH A DANCE REVOLVER. THE WEDGE IS NOT ORIGINAL TO THE FIREARM. GRIPS ARE WALNUT AND THOUGH SHRUNK APPEAR TO BE THE APPROPRIATE AGE. COMES WITH A PERIOD HOLSTER, THIS IS ALL THE AVAILABLE INFORMATION WE HAVE ON THIS OFFERING, CLASS: CANADIAN ANTIQUE CLASS
