(WED, 1950s) An absolutely stunning artifact from the construction of Disneyland. This February 14, 1955 plot plan overview featuring the main section of the property is a rarity. It covers the last formative stages as construction of the park hurtled towards its opening, a mere five months later. It’s fascinating to still find at this late period, unfamiliar areas and attractions that never came to be; features such as an “Open Skeet Range”, “Arboretum” and “Archery Range”. Drawn by famed Disneyland planner, Marvin Davis, it is the ultimate park map in both detail and history. Construction artifacts are rare and brownlines such as this are almost non-existent. The process is similar to blue-printing where a scale mechanical drawing is photographically reproduced through a photo-chemical process. This technique was almost exclusively used by WED Enterprises during the planning and construction of the park. Rendered at 50’ feet to the inch, the piece measures 43” x 63” and is professionally framed. The brownline has been conservation restored, de-acidified and mounted on linen. Special shipping arrangements will apply.
