The lot features a wonderful Comanche Native American Indian attributed fully quilled and beaded sheath with a trade clothe wrapped knife. The sheath is constructed from thick Great American Bison Buffalo rawhide parfleche and shows an Indian tanned hide section with large glass trade pony beads and porcupine quillwork. The beadwork and quillwork is in the typical pattern, colors and stylings of other late 19th Century examples. The knife shows a machine carved wood grip with brass furniture tacks and old trade clothe wrappings showing a stained appearance. The blade appears to be a piece of flat steel with a carved or ground median incused ridge and is a Bowie Knife style. The sheath shows a long hand cut thin fringe, a truly wonderful addition. The rear of the sheath shows two cut-outs for the belt loop and some wear. The piece is aid to be from the Ex-Collection of Bucannon and Unser of Austin, Texas with no documentation. The sheath measures 4" x 10.25". The knife measures 12.5" with a 7" blade.
