Colt SAA revolver, .45 cal., 5-1/2” barrel, nickel finish with engraving thru the finish, butt of grips show “W.F. & Co.”, pearl grips, #274791. This interesting Colt is accompanied by a factory letter confirmingthe caliber and barrel length but indicating blue finish and stocks “Not Listed”, factory engraved “W.F. & Co.” on the butt of the revolver and shipped to Wells Fargo Company c/o W. M. Ashton, New York, NY on January 12, 1906, six guns in shipment” with remark that Mr. Ashton was in charge of the Supply Dept. for Wells Fargo from 1888 to 1910. The gun is in overall excellent condition as refinished to nickel, likely by the factoryin the late 1940’s, where it was also re-barreled. The bore is fine, the action crisp, markings are good, engraving simple and pearl grips are fine with beautiful iridescent colors. Accompanied by anaffidavit from consignor who states “When I purchased the single action army . . . the owner told me (it) had belonged to his grandfather (who) was presented this gun, when he retired from Wells Fargo Bank, as a
