Colt New Service Target revolver, .45 Auto cartridge caliber, Serial #342004. The pistol is in fine overall condition with a 7 ½” barrel. The pistol retains approximately 90% of its original blue with wear at themuzzle, a small loss of finish on the left side of the barrel and a small silver star added to the left side of the frame. Additionally, the revolver has a skeletonized hammer added. The Rampant Colt emblem isclear and crisp on the left side of the frame. Both the front and back strap are hand checkered. The checkered wood silver medallion grips are in fine condition with sharp checkering and small mars from carryand use. The bore is good, the action crisp and markings are sharp. According to the consignor’s notes, the pistol was shipped to Wolf & Klar, Fort Worth, Texas on October 26, 1940. According to Colt New ServiceRevolvers by Bob Murphy, where this revolver and the proceeding lot are referenced, only approximately 14% of the Late Model, New Service Target revolvers were manufactured in the .45 Auto cartridge.
