Manufactured in 1861 as a cartridge revolver in 38 rimfire cartridge circa 1873 to 1880. The top of the barrel is marked "ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA" and the 1871 and 1872 patent dates on the left side of the frame. The left trigger guard shoulder is marked "36 CAL". The complete matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap, the partial number "775" on the cylinder and the wedge is un-numbered. The rebated cylinder is roll engraved with the stagecoach holdup scene. Fitted with smooth a one-piece varnished walnut grip.

Condition: Very fine. The revolver retains 40% original blue finish mixed with smooth mottled brown patina. The hammer and frame retain 85% vivid original case colors. The back strap and trigger guard have an aged patina with traces of original silver plating in protected areas. The grip is excellent with 95% original varnish remaining showing a dent on the bottom of each side, some minor wear on the lower edges and a few minor dings. The cylinder scene and markings are clear. The action is excellent.
