Colt Bisley Model SAA revolver, .38/40 caliber, 5.5” barrel, blued and case hardened finish, checkered hard rubber grips, S/N 317471, in overall good to very good condition showing considerable original areas of blue with areas of muted original case colors on the frame; proof marks and “N.P.P.” stamped on the butt strap along with an “A” and also an “A” over the S/N on the bottom of the frame; good bore, crisp action, sharpmarkings and overall good grips; Accompanied by a Colt factory letter confirming features (stocks “Not Listed), shipped to Whitney Sporting Goods Co., Denver, CO. on June 30, 1911, one gun in shipment. Also with lot isa hand signed letter from Major H.H. Wells, Ret. Indicating “In 1915 Bisley,l Serial No. 317471 was in Australia and during WW I was in the hands of the New Plymouth Police of New Zealand. When and how it returned theUnited States I do not know”.
