Extremely Rare Fifty Shillings Denomination April 20, 1781 The First and Only Fifty Shillings We Have Ever Offered
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, April 20, 1781. Fifty Shillings. PCGS graded Very Fine 30.
Fr. PA-254. This extremely rare and highly improbable to locate, 50s denomination is on a scarce 1781 Revolutionary War period Pennsylvania issue. Rarity and specialized collectors alike should definitely double check their collection listing as this note is certain to be needed. Evenly circulated, this note appears well centered on both sides and is printed in rich black with text and designs very clear. Signed in bold brown by James Budden and light red by John Patton. Comments on its holder says minor stains and a small edge split at top center, which seem a trifle harsh. It is a pleasing note for its grade. This issue printed on a special watermarked “PENSYL-VANIA” laid period paper. This elusive denomination has always carried a premium collector value for its significant rarity. We anticipate numerous collectors needing this pleasing Fifty Shillings note.
