Collection of 100+ puppet elements from Mr. Strauss Takes a Walk and Bravo, Mr. Strauss. (Paramount, 1942 and 1943) This collection includes some of the key puppet elements from two of George Pal’s most endearing Puppetoons: Mr. Strauss Takes a Walk and Bravo, Mr. Strauss. Most importantly, it includes the central Mr. Strauss large puppet body with poseable arms, his signature shock of wild hair made from a mass of thin gauge wire, as well as dozens of leg elements which made him appear to skate gracefully through the set. Some of the legs bear handwritten notations, “sneak”, “waltz”, “skating” as well as a number value on the top. Other puppets include: numerous rabbit bodies (bearing a strong resemblance to Bugs Bunny), various bird heads, bodies and wings. Also included are 25+ Italian announcer heads and 20+ Jim Dandy bodies and heads from the opening sequence of Bravo, Mr. Strauss. The Jim Dandy bodies are in an original cardboard production box bearing the pencil notation “Jasper and the Beanstalk” and a “Geo. Pal Prod.” rubber ink stamp. Well over 100 pieces total. A wonderful collection of original Puppetoons from these films.
