Manufactured between 1863 and 1865 with approximately 32,000 made and approximately 25,000 purchased under U.S. contract. Dovetail blade front sight and hammer groove rear sight. Standard "STARR. ARMS. CO. NEW. YORK." address on left the side of frame and "STARR'S PATENT JAN. 15, 1856" on the right. Serial numbers match on the front of the barrel lug, on the cylinder and the hammer cutout on the frame. There is a "C" inspection mark on some components. Fitted with one-piece varnished walnut grips with a boxed script cartouche on the bottom of each side.

Condition: Fine with 50% of the bright original high polish blue finish remaining, with scattered areas of smooth gray patina. The barrel has some moderate pitting on the left side near the muzzle. There are a number of minor scratches and areas that have been cleaned on the frame. The rear portion of the loading lever retains most of the bright original case colors with a dark and silver gray on the balance. The action needs work, the hammer doesn't always hold a cock position. The grips are also very fine with some minor pressure dents and dings. The right cartouche is unreadable and the left side is clear.
