Included for you in this lot is a G. Gregory branded, Civil War era medical bleeder, or fleam. The device has three flip out blades, with the smallest being marked "G. Gregory". The blades are housed in a gorgeous horn handle, and shows a prominent brass spine. Blood Letting is an ancient medical practice, abandoned some time into the Civil War, as the war years progressed and knowledge of medicine, and medical procedures increased, the practice of blood letting was deserted. Overall, the piece shows good original condition, there is a small chip out of one of the lances, and shows patina indicative of age. When closed, the piece measures 3" long, 1" wide, and 3/8" thick.
