Rare and finely case Chinese Western Wei Dynasty (535-556) gilt bronze stele; well cast Buddha seated in Lalitasana on pedestal wearing flowing robes falling in crisp graceful folds, seated between two bodhisattva to the far left and right, both holding a plantar and the hands held in abhaya mudra; with two other bodhisattva to its immediate left and right with hands held in mudra of meditation, dhyana mudra; stele backed by layered aureole and raised on pedestal decorated with figures in various poses; incised script on verso; H: 30 cm, L: 17 cm, W: 7 cm
