Charles Schulz Signed ''Peanuts'' Sunday Strip
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Very large 23.75'' x 15'' ''Peanuts'' comic strip featuring ''Good ol' Charlie Brown,'' hand-drawn and signed by Charles Schulz for publication on 2 July 1967. A fine example of the popular baseball themed strips, the ten-framed panel shows Charlie Brown and Lucy in the dugout, going face to face in one of their expected, yet nonetheless endearing squabbles. Lucy in her typical defeatist attitude is convinced their team will lose. Charlie Brown, ever the optimist, tries to give her a pep talk with endless aphorisms, which Lucy takes literally as she steps up to bat. Charlie Brown tells Lucy, ''Keep a stiff upper lip, and show their pitcher you have fire in your eyes and a firm jaw!'' as Lucy contorts her face literally with a pouted lip, retorting: ''We may win the ball game but he's ruining my face!'' Signed ''Schulz'' in the last frame. Strip has one staple at top, white paint along top edge, though not affecting panels, and light toning. The year is also cut out from the United Feature Syndicate label. Very good condition overall. An exceptional and rare strip with baseball content, among the most desirable of ''Peanuts'' strips.
