California and New York, 1867. $50, P-Unlisted, Unissued obsolete banknote, scrip note or coupon. Black on light orange underprint, Portrait of official looking gentleman in middle with very small steamship on bottom under title with light orange underprint with date on it, back blank. Early California scrip or banknote that was possibly used as currency when issued. At first glance the note appears in VF condition but there is a repair on the lower left corner that is also toned that is difficult to see. Rare and attractive California related scrip note. Archibald McLees, New York. (This note was originally offered in September 1980 as Lot #622 at the NASCA The New York '80 Public Auction Sale).
