This lot offers you a fine piece of Western history, with a Quarter Sawn Oak vanity dresser originating from Buffalo Bill Cody's very own - Irma Hotel. The dresser features the original shipping tag "From Orchard & Wilhelm Carpet CO." out of Omaha, Nebraska, addressed to the "Irma Hotel - Cody, WY". The Irma Hotel - Named after Buffalo Bill Cody's daughter, celebrated with a grand opening party on November 18, 1902, in which dignitaries and press alike came from as far as Boston. This dresser originates from the first decade of the 1900’s and attended that party. The dresser is constructed of quarter sawn hardwood oak, and utilizes a scalloped antique mirror, a serpentine front, and four drawers, with period hardware. The dresser had a long life in one of the hotel rooms, and shows good condition, with typical wear from use that is indicative of age. The dresser includes the working key, and original brass hardware. The dresser measures 39 1/2" wide, 69 3/4" tall, and 20 3/4" deep. The piece is guaranteed to be an authentic original. A copy of the photograph showing the dresser on display in one of the period hotel rooms at the Irma is included. This is truly a very rare and unique piece.
