This lot features an early authentic original Blackfoot Native American Indian pewter inlaid trade knife and scabbard from the 19th Century. This exceptional set dates to the circa 1800’s and shows a single solid piece of walnut hardwood for a handle boasting an artful silver like pewter inlay. The scabbard is crafted of a harness saddle trade leather and is adorned with solid brass square shank trade tacks, a true attribution to its early age. The knife blade construction shows a fine steel and a subtle drop point. Overall the set shows good condition for its early age – the knife has an even patina and the scabbard is absent of major cracking but does show wear. When inserted into the scabbard, the set measures 9 1/2" long, and 2" wide. This is truly a fine authentic example. Provenance: From a large American Indian artifacts collection in Billings, Montana.
