Three items from the Black Diamond Copper Mining Company. 1) A handwritten letter from Black Diamond, Arizona from 1904 with the original cover. The cover has one of two known Black Diamond cancellations. The cancellation is torn at a diagonal through the cover. 2-3) Issued and one canceled stock certificates for the Black Diamond. Both different. One is #1281 for 100 shares to JN Vance in 1901. The Black Diamond was 6 miles from Pearce. In 1902 they built a 200 ton smelter connected with the mine by a 1 1/2 mile aerial tram. The ore is chalcopyrite, bornite, and argentite producing 5% to 6% copper, with gold and silver. About 2 miles of underground workings.
