BACK TO THE FUTURE THE RIDE (1991) - DeLorean Time Machine Model Miniature
A DeLorean time machine light-up model miniature from the Universal Studios attraction Back to the Future: The Ride. The attraction, which ran from 1991 - 2007 (2016 in Japan), showed Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson) stealing the DeLorean for a joyride through time, with Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) and the audience in close pursuit. In addition to original cast members Lloyd and Wilson, Steven Spielberg served as creative consultant on the project.

The DeLorean time machine model is entirely custom-made for the simulator attraction film, featuring a plastic body that has been fully dressed to match the time machine in the films, with the tyres in a horizontal flying position. It features all of the dressing that made the time machine famous, such as the large rear vents, 'Mr. Fusion' and 'OUTATIME' license plate. The model was hung from a marionette-style rig using nine small wires, and was puppeteered using a motion control rig. It was used extensively for filming the Hill Valley and prehistoric scenes.

The piece includes a custom base and stand that holds the model at a pitched angle. An external power source and control buttons activate the piece's two light features. One button operates the headlights and exhaust vent lights, while the other operates the tire lights. The power wires lead out from under the custom display base to a control box and external power source which is wired for American outlet. The light bulbs are original to the piece while the wiring and external switches and power sources have been restored recently. The lot remains in very fine condition. Dimensions on base: 36 cm x 23 cm x 28 cm (14'' x 9'' x 11'')

Estimate: £40,000 - £60,000
