Oil on board. Featuring a dancer slipping on her shoe and preparing to dance. Signed and attributed to Gary Slipper (Canadian, born 1934) on the lower left corner. 45 x 60 cm (17.7 x 32.6 in). Gary Peter Slipper is a painter who was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He's lived in Hamilton, Ontario (1960 - 65); Toronto, Ontario (1965 - 1988); and presently in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. His mediums are oils, tempera, pencil, ink, mixed mediums and grisaille. His subjects are fantasy, dreams,spiritual, mythology, still life, portraits, nudes and figures. His style is surrealist. He studied at the Banff School of Fine Arts, Alberta (1948); the Vancouver School of Art, B.C. (1950); the American Academy of Art, Chicago (1951 - 1952); the Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Madrid (1953) and in Florence, Italy (1954).
