This is an exceptional authentic original Arapaho Native American Indian catlinite pipestone pipe with carved wood stem. The pipe and stem date to circa 1890-1900. The wood stem shows a flat construction with an intricately carved linear pattern on both sides. The stem shows a four-point carved morning star motif. The pipe also features a T-shaped bowl with an overall smooth patina and artful carved form. Provenance: From the personal collection of renowned collector and foremost expert on war clubs and tomahawks, Mark Francis. The Francis collection piece has been authenticated and verified. This is an excellent representation of an early Arapaho piece and the circa late 19th century authentic piece shows exquisite craftsmanship. Truly a museum quality artifact.
