The lot features a unique war club tomahawk dating to the late 19th century to early 20th century that was collected from the Mescalaro Apache Native American Indians of Arizona. The war club measures overall 22.5 inches in length and features a 5-inch-wide flat stone head secured onto the wood haft with wetted and dried hide. The haft is made of an old tree branch and covered in hide secured with sinew and adorned with a mid-section of chalk white and medium blue glass trade seed beadwork with a Buffalo hide fringed drop at the bottom. There is some discoloration and signs of age and use. This was definitely an Indian Wars or protection used war club. After the Indian Wars period and into the reservation period the war club was later likely used as a dance object. From the Ex Collection of Ted & Lilly Jarvis of Wyoming.
