This is an exceptional historic Algonquin Native American Indian Ball Head War Club from circa 1750-1820 with COA. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Jackson Galleries William Jackson in Kentucky dated/signed 2009. The piece shows a wonderful hardwood solid one piece construction with a Ball Root War Club Head at the end. The entire piece has exquisite original engraved carved pictorial accents including two large five point stars on either side, puncture spots accenting the edge of the handle and ball with one drilled area, Turkey Tracks/Arrows along each side, and a “Horse Mane” of chevrons down the spine of the handle. The grip area shows a spiral carved area with consistent wear having file burned accents above with puncture spots framing the top and bottom. The piece shows an overall mineral dyed wash with burned accents. This has been authenticated and certified to be an original Algonquin circa 1750-1820 A.D. and was from the Ex-Davis Collection in Northeastern U.S. One of the finest Ball Head War Clubs from the 18th Century available for public purchase outside a museum. Truly a historic piece. Measures overall 22.5”L x 6”W. Head is 4” in diameter. COA included.
