The present set of Vintage silver gelatin prints depicts three glamorous high society ladies of the 1960s. One picture shows Ella Fitzgerald with a bouquet of flowers, another picture presents the famous actress Vivi Bach and the last picture depicts the US-American actress Sza Sza Gabor next to the chief officer in front of her airplane.



The picture of Ella Fitzgerald is verso dated with pencil ’12.1.61/61’ and inscribed with pen ‘Ella’. The picture of Vivi Bach is verso dated with pencil ‘11.3.62/1[?]’ and the third photograph is verso dated with pencil ‘18.8.60/72’ and inscribed with pen ‘Gabor’. The depictions show some scattered, almost invisible scratches that may have affected the negative; the mentioned scratches are therefore no damages to the photographs.



Alfred Kucera

The Austrian photographer Alfred Kucera worked for the airport photo service in Vienna in the 1960s. In this role he produced an impressive collection of photographs depicting celebrities, politicians, Hollywood stars and musicians at their arrival or departure from the airport. Kucera’s works provide an authentic overview of the spirit of the time. (cbo)
