Abigail Brown Sampler done in 1825 at age 13 in Leicester, Massachusetts. Most likely stitched at the Leicester Academy. There is a similar sampler in the collection of Sturbridge Village done by Louisa Earle in 1815.

There is some thread loss to the top right alphabet, I,J,K and U and to the number 7. Also some loss to the smaller alphabet R,S and T. There are no holes. The bottom is green hills with strawberries and flowers with a green notched border completely around the border. It is framed in older frame with paper on the back. Not sure if it was original.

The verse is:

The twining texture of this thread

May speak of me when I am dead;

But grace, not art, survives the tomb,

And gives the soul immortal bloom.
