The Grand Gulch Mining Company, located north of the Colorado River close to the borders of both Nevada and Utah, was incorporated circa 1876 in St. George, Utah. Isolated by many miles from towns in both Utah and Arizona, the Grand Gulch Mining Company was one of the richest ore bodies of copper and silver in the area, but because of the cost of transportation and distance from the closest rail line, the company encountered many financial problems during its time of operation. Tax records show that the company was at one point sold because of delinquent taxes. The company operated from the mid-1870s until 1918 when the "ore seemed to be gone". Some of the remaining buildings were burned around 1955. This lot contains mainly financial documents in the form of bills and headbills and checks. They date from circa 1903 to circa 1913.
