Of classic form, the grips with rolled pommel and silver mounts, elegantly engraved with Ottoman geometrical-motif borders and circular cartouches containing Arabic inscriptions. The broad, T-section blade handwrought of rare wootzdamascus steel, with narrow fuller at the spine, the yelman with chiseled panel and gold inlay. With rubbed gold inlaid motifs at the forte and a cartouche at the right containing the maker's name, ASSAD ALLAH and 'ALI ___ IBN [AL-] TALIB. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard, the silver mounts decorated en suite with the hilt, the lengthy coiled seam intact. Mid-18th century. Light wear overall. Overall length 84.4 cm. Condition II
