[ ALBER, Erasme].- L' Alcoran des Cordeliers. Tant en latin qu'en françois c'est à dire Recueil des plus notables bourdes & blasphèmes de ceux qui ont osé comparer Sainct François à Jésus Christ [...]. Nouvelle édition ornée de figures dessinées par B. Picart. Amsterdam, aux dépens de la Compagnie, 1734. 2 vol. in-12° : [18]-396, [2]-419 pp. et 22 gravures hors texte. Rel. de l'époque : plein chagrin rouge, triple filet doré cernant les plats, dos fleuronnés dorés à nerfs, roulette dorée sur les coupes et remplis, tr. dorées (taches sur les plats). Sous étui commun de papier.
Premier tirage des gravures de cet ouvrage satirico-hérétique par le réformateur Alber (mort en 1553), élève et zélé partisan de Luther, tiré de la célèbre hagiographie rédigée par le père cordelier franciscain Bartelémy Albizzi (ou de Pise, mort en 1401), dans laquelle la vie et les miracles de saint François sont présentés comme supérieurs à ceux de Jésus-Christ. Traduit de l'allemand en français par Alber, puis par Cornelius Badius qui compléta l'ouvrage et donné à Genève en 1560 et 1578.
Notre édition, d'après la traduction de Badius, est illustrée d'1 frontispice,- 20 hors-texte gravés par Bernard Picart le Romain,- et 1 figure dépliante par le même figurant l'arbre de la Conformité de saint François avec Jésus Christ. Les figures du tome II, pp. 68 et 114 sont découvertes.

Payment will be made in Euro's. We do not accept credit cards neither cheques whose total amount exceed 200 EUR or cheques not validated for higher sum.
Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Euro's (EUR)
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 1250 EUR
All items are assumed to be in good condition unless otherwise stated. Buyers are kindly invited to carry out their own inspection of the lots they want to buy. All items to be auctioned are on view for several days prior to the sale.
Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
On every purchase Belgian law only is applicable, and all cases of dispute are exclusively to the competence of the Brussels Chamber.
